Alright ... here's a quick primer on getting/installing/playing the Hand and Foot app, setting options and rules and a couple of pointers/gotcha's to watch for while you play.
Install: Search the Apple App Store on your iPhone or iPad for Extreme Hand and Foot by James Swiney - $2.99.
When you install, make sure you allow App to send notifications and alerts, you will want to be notified when its your turn.
Settings: Before inviting others to play, adjust game setting via Options on the Main Menu. See picture at bottom of this page ... We should all be set the same.
Rules: Read them, they are a tad different. Note especially rules about Red and Black 3s. Will take some getting used to
Game Play: There are two options (Extreme takes a looong some time!)
Extreme, 2 feet(!) and requires 2 red and 2 black books to go out - 20000 to win.
Normal, 1 foot, requires 1 black and 1 red book to go out - 10000 to win.
Other Notes/Gotha's we noticed:
You HAVE TO discard to go out. You can't simply add a card to a completed book.
Points to lay down are based on your current score, watch for the notice between hands to see how much you and opponent need to start. It can be different!
You MUST have a red book and black book to go down. Plus the correct number of points, of course.
If you start laying down and want to pull cards back, you can touch the card and it will go back in your hand. Your opponent will see these.
Use the Magnifying glass (upper left) to see opponents books, melds, feet and such.
YOU CAN have multiple games going at the same time ... gets confusing! I recommend finishing any local/solo games before playing others online.
You have to play local games to completion, have not found a way to quit! Online/Network games can be forfeited.
If you are playing a network game and think its your turn, you may gave missed the notification. You can hit the (i) button on right, then hit Multi-Player on bottom of screen screen to see who is waiting. Probably good to communicate - text or facetime audio - if playing realtime game.
